Removal and Installation
REMOVAL1. Remove the intermediate shaft pinch bolt.
2. Slide the intermediate shaft off the steering gear input shaft.
CAUTION: Do not rotate the steering wheel when the lower steering column shaft is disconnected, or damage to the air bag sliding contact will result.
3. Turn the ignition key to the locked position.
4. Disconnect the power steering lines.
5. Raise and support the vehicle.
6. Remove the steering sector shaft arm drag link castellated nut.
(1) Remove the cotter pin.
(2) Remove the nut.
7. Separate the steering sector shaft arm drag link.
- Use (A) Pitman Arm Puller.
8. Remove the three steering gear bolts and the steering gear.
9. Secure the steering gear in a bench vise, and remove the sector shaft arm nut and lockwasher.
10. Use Pitman Arm Puller to remove the steering gear sector shaft arm.
INSTALLATION
1. Follow the removal procedure in reverse order.
2. Fill, purge and leak check the system. Service and Repair
