Installation





1. Attach the Modular Lifting Bar.
2. Remove the engine from the engine stand.
3. Clean and inspect the mating surface.

CAUTION: Do not use metal scrapers, wire brushes, power abrasive discs or other abrasive means to clean the aluminum retainer plate. These tools cause scratches and gouges, which make leak paths. Use a plastic scraping tool to remove all traces of old sealant.





4. Apply a bead of silicone around the rear oil seal retainer sealing surface.
- Use Silicone Gasket and Sealant F6AZ-19562-A or equivalent meeting Ford specification WSE-M4G323-A6.

NOTE: If not secured within 4 minutes, sealant must be removed and sealing area cleaned with Metal Surface Cleaner F4AZ-19B536-RA or equivalent meeting Ford specification WSE-M5B392-A. Allow to dry until there is no sign of wetness, or 4 minutes, whichever is longer. Failure to follow this procedure can cause future oil leakage.





5. Install the crankshaft rear oil seal retainer and bolts.





6. Install a new crankshaft rear oil seal.
7. Install the crankshaft oil slinger








8. Install the flywheel and the bolts. Tighten the bolts in the sequence shown.
9. Position the engine in the vehicle, and remove the engine lifting bar and the jack supporting the transmission.

NOTE: Align the engine to transmission dowels before installing engine to transmission bolts.

10. Raise and support the vehicle.





11. Install and tighten the nuts.





12. Install and tighten the new nuts.
13. Install the starter motor.





14. Install and tighten the nuts.





15. Connect power steering pressure hose.





16. Install the oil cooler to the oil filter adapter, and install the oil bypass filter.





17. Position the oil cooler hoses and install the hose clamp.





18. Install the bolts, and install the shifter cable bracket.





19. Install the lower radiator hose.
20. Lower the vehicle.





21. Install the transmission oil filler tube and nut.

NOTE: Lubricate the O-rings with transmission fluid.





22. Install the remaining bolts and the fuel line bracket.





23. Connect the transmission wiring harness and the LH and RH Heated Exhaust Gas Oxygen (HEGO) sensor connectors.





24. Install the water heater return tube.
25. Install the intake manifold.





26. Install the suction line to the accumulator.





27. Install the power steering reservoir hose at the power steering pump.
28. Install the drive belt.
29. Install the upper and lower core support, grille opening panel, front stone shield, and grille.
30. Install the A/C condenser.
31. Install the radiator.
32. Install the side marker lamps and headlamps.
33. Install the engine Air Cleaner (ACL) and the air cleaner outlet tube.
34. Fill all fluids to the proper levels.





35. Install the power steering reservoir bracket.
36. Connect bulkhead connectors. Tighten the bolt.





37. Install the connector cover.
38. Connect the battery ground cable.
39. Start the engine and check for leaks. Stop the engine and recheck the fluid levels.
40. Evacuate and recharge the A/C system.
