Seat Belt Reminder Buzzer: Description and Operation

The safety belt warning chime/buzzer reminds the driver to fasten the safety belt. This occurs when the ignition key is turned to RUN and the driver safety belt remains unbuckled. The chime/buzzer can be terminated by buckling the driver safety belt anytime during the 48 second chime/buzzer warning.

The chime/buzzer works in conjunction with the safety belt warning indicator in the instrument cluster. When the ignition key is turned to RUN, the safety belt warning indicator will illuminate for five seconds, whether or not the driver safety belt is buckled, to perform a prove out on the bulb.
