Removal and Installation
REMOVAL1. Remove the radiator.
2. Raise and support the vehicle.
3. Remove the converter housing cover.
4. Remove the crankshaft pulley bolt and washer.
NOTE: To prevent the crankshaft from rotating, use a breaker bar to bar engine.
5. Remove the crankshaft vibration damper, using the Crankshaft Damper Tool, adapter bolts and adapter.
6. Remove the oil pump housing bolts and the oil pump body plate and square-cut O-ring.
7. Remove the inner gerotor.
8. Clean the oil pump assembly.
INSTALLATION
1. Install the inner gerotor on the crankshaft.
2. Assemble the oil pump body plate, outer gerotor and O-ring. Liberally apply oil to gerotor pump.
3. Install the oil pump housing and bolts.
4. Install the crankshaft vibration damper, using the driver/puller screw, driver sleeve and thread adapter.
NOTE:
- A new crankshaft front seal must be installed whenever the crankshaft vibration damper is removed.
- Apply RTV Sealant F5TZ-19G204-AB or equivalent meeting Navistar specification D15-5012 Type 2 to the crankshaft keyway prior to crankshaft vibration damper installation.
5. Install the crankshaft pulley bolt and washer.
6. Remove the breaker bar from the flywheel.
7. Install the converter housing cover.
8. Lower the vehicle.
9. Install the radiator.
10. Add oil to the engine as necessary.
