AF: Dual Generator Lower Circuit Fault Detected

Test AF: Dual Generator Lower Circuit Fault Detected (P1107)

AF1 - Check The Lower Generator I Circuit

AF1:

AF1:

Measure the voltage between lower generator C1198, terminal I, circuit 1185 (YE), component side and ground.

Is the voltage greater than 0 volts?

YES INSTALL a new lower generator. CLEAR codes and TEST the system for normal operation.

NO GO to AF2.

AF2 - Check The Lower Generator I Circuit For Short To B+

AF2:

AF2:

Measure the voltage between the PCM C154 pin 60, circuit 1185 (YE), harness side and ground.

Is any voltage present?

YES REPAIR the I circuit 1185 (YE) for a short to B+. CLEAR the codes and TEST the system for normal operation.

NO GO to AF3.

AF4 - Check The PCM Operation

AF3:

Carry out a glow plug test with the scan tool (refer to scan tool manual or PC/ED for test procedures).

AE3:

Measure the voltage between the lower generator C1198 terminal I, circuit 1185 (YE), harness side and ground, while carrying out the glow plug test.

Is any voltage present?

YES GO to AF4.

NO The system is operating normally. CHECK the I Circuit 1185 (YE) for intermittent shorts to B+. CLEAR the codes and TEST the system for normal operation.

AF4 - Check For Correct Module Operation

Check:

- for corrosion
- for pushed-out pins
- connector seated correctly

Connect any disconnected connectors.

Make sure all other system connectors are fully seated.

Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.

Is the concern still present?

YES INSTALL a new PCM. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the PCM self-test.

NO The system is operating correctly at this time. Concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
