ISSUE
Some vehicles may experience a 4-1 downshift when performing a forced 4-2 downshift (kickdown) between 88-105 km/h (55-65 mph) causing the engine rpm to increase higher than expected. This may be caused by internal leakage of fluid between the hydraulic circuits in the transmission case worm trail between the separator plate gasket and transmission case.
ACTION
Perform normal diagnostics as outlined in the appropriate Workshop Manual. If the concern is still present, replace the separator plate and gaskets. Refer to the Application Chart below and the appropriate Workshop Manual for replacement procedures.
