Water Pump: Service and Repair

REMOVAL
1. Remove the radiator.





2. Rotate the accessory drive belt tensioner counterclockwise and remove the accessory drive belt.





3. Disconnect the heater hose at the water pump.
1 Release the clamp.
2 Remove the hose.





4. Disconnect the lower radiator hose at the water pump.
1 Release the clamp.
2 Remove the hose.





5. Remove the bolts and the water pump pulley.





6. Remove the two water pump stud bolts.





7. Remove the ten water pump bolts and the water pump.

INSTALLATION





1. Position the water pump and install the two stud bolts.

NOTE: Use Metal Surface Cleaner F4AZ-19A536-RA or equivalent meeting Ford specification WSE-MSB392-A and a suitable plastic or wooden scraper to clean the sealing surfaces.





2. Install the water pump bolts.





3. Install the water pump pulley.





4. Connect the lower radiator hose to the water pump.
1 Position the hose.
2 Install the clamp.





5. Connect the heater hose to the water pump.
1 Position the hose.
2 Install the clamp.





6. Rotate the accessory drive belt tensioner counterclockwise and install the drive belt.
7. Install the radiator.
