Installation







1. Clean and inspect all surfaces, if needed.





2. Install the Engine Lift Brackets.
1 Install the two stud bolts.
2 If necessary remove the oil level indicator tube and nut.
3 Install a 7.5 mm spacer.
4 Install Engine Lift Bracket. Install the nut.

NOTE:
- The LH front Engine Lift Bracket and RH rear Engine Lift Bracket are installed using the same procedure.
- Lift brackets should be installed on exhaust stud bolts for cylinders number one and number eight.


3. Install the Engine Spreader Bar on the Engine Lift Brackets.





4. Install a suitable engine lifting sling to Spreader Bar and position around crankshaft vibration damper to support the front of the engine, and install the engine into the vehicle.





5. Install the two RH nuts.





6. Install the two LH nuts.
7. Install the exhaust manifolds.
8. Install the lower radiator hose.





9. Install the oil bypass filter.
10. Connect the low oil level sensor electrical connector.





11. Connect the body bulkhead connector.





12. Connect the RH heated oxygen sensor electrical connector.





13. Connect the LH heated oxygen sensor electrical connector.
14. Install the transmission inspection cover, torque converter bolts, and transmission to engine block bolts.
15. Install the starter.





16. Connect the transmission cooler lines to the retainer by the RH engine mount.





17. Install the battery to starter relay cable to the retainer on the engine front cover.





18. Connect the ground cable to the engine front cover.





19. Connect the ground strap to the rear of the lower intake manifold.
20. Raise and support the vehicle.
21. Install the transmission fill tube.





22. Install the two heater water hoses.





23. Connect the engine bulk head connector.





24. Connect the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) bulkhead connector and the body ground connector.





25. Install the accelerator cable bracket.
1 Position the accelerator cable bracket.
2 Install the bolt.





26. Install the other nut.





27. Install the nut.





28. Connect the accelerator cable to the throttle linkage.





29. Position the accelerator and cruise control cables into the retaining clip.





30. Connect the LH side vacuum connections.





31. Connect the RH side vacuum connections.
32. Install the lower steering column shaft.





33. Install the bolt.





34. Connect the emissions vapor management hose.
35. Connect the fuel lines on the RH inner fender.





36. Connect the Wide-open A/C Cutoff (WAC) electrical connector.





37. Install the generator (GEN).
1 Position the generator.
2 Install the bolts.





38. Install the nut on the generator stud.





39. Connect the electrical connectors.
40. Install the ignition coils and bracket and the spark plug wires.





41. Install the A/C compressor and tighten the bolts.





42. Position the spark plug wire bracket and install the nut.





43. Connect the air conditioning compressor electrical connector.





44. Position the power steering pump and rotate the power steering pump pulley to access the bolt holes.





45. Install the bolt.





46. Install the power steering reservoir and the bolts.





47. Position the drive belt.





48. Turn the tensioner and finish installing the drive belt.
1 Rotate the tensioner clockwise.
2 Position the drive belt.





49. Connect the upper radiator hose.
5O. Install the fan blade assembly and the fan shroud.
51. Install the battery.
52. Install the A/C condenser core.





53. Install the air cleaner outlet tube.
- Position the air cleaner outlet tube and tighten the clamps.
- Connect the IAT sensor electrical connector.
- Connect the PCV hose to the air cleaner outlet tube.





54. Fill the engine crankcase with clean engine oil meeting Ford specification WSS-M2C153-G. The oil level should read between the min and max lines on the oil level indicator.
55. Fill the engine cooling system.
56. Recharge the air conditioning system.
57. Install the hood.
