Alternator: Service and Repair

REMOVAL
1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
2. Remove the air cleaner outlet tube.
3. Remove the drive belt.







4. Disconnect the wiring harness to voltage regulator electrical connector.







5. Remove the B+ terminal cover.







6. Remove the B+ terminal electrical connector.
1. Remove the B+ terminal nut.
2. Disconnect the B+ terminal electrical connector.







7. Position the A/C manifold and tube bracket aside.
1. Remove the nut.
2. Position the A/C manifold and tube bracket aside.







8. Remove the wiring harness-to-generator pushpin.







9. Remove the Generator (GEN).
1. Remove the stud bolt.
2. Remove the bolts.
3. Remove the generator.

INSTALLATION

















1. Follow removal procedure in reverse order.

NOTE: When the battery is disconnected and reconnected, some abnormal drive symptoms may occur while the vehicle relearns its adaptive strategy. The vehicle may need to be driven 16 km (10 miles) or more to relearn the strategy.
