Disassembly and Assembly

DISASSEMBLY





1. Use the Valve Spring Compressor and the Valve Spring Compressor Bar to compress the valve spring and remove the valve spring retainer key.

NOTE: Remove deposits from the combustion chambers and valve heads. Be careful not to scratch the cylinder head surfaces.





2. Remove the valve springs and valve stem seals.
1 Remove the valve spring retainers.
2 Remove the valve springs.
3 Remove the valve stem seals.

NOTE: Mark the location of the parts so they can be installed in their original position.





3. Remove the valves from the cylinder head.
4. Inspect the valves and valve springs.

ASSEMBLY
1. Lubricate the valve and install it in its original position
- Use clean engine oil meeting Ford specification WSS-M2C153-G.





2. Use Valve Stem Seal Replacer to install the valve stem seals.





3. Install the valve springs and the valve spring retainers.
1 Install the valve springs.
2 Install the valve spring retainers.





4. Use Valve Spring Compressor and Valve Spring Compressor Bar to compress the valve spring and install the valve spring retainer key.
5. Inspect the valve springs for correct installed height.
