52. Install the oil filter.

CAUTION: Failure to follow this procedure will result in the fuel system being out of time with the engine, possibly causing engine damage.





53. Install (A) Synchronizer Positioning Tool, aligning tabs and notches with those on the (B) camshaft synchronizer.





54. Install the camshaft synchronizer into the cylinder block.





55. When installing the camshaft synchronizer into the cylinder block, make sure the arrow on the Synchronizer Positioning Tool is pointing toward the front of the vehicle.





56. Install the clamp and bolt.





57. Remove the Synchronizer Positioning Tool.





58. Install the cylinder identification (CID) sensor.
1 Position the CID sensor.
2 Install the screws.
3 Connect the wiring harness.





59. Position the RH engine mount and install the bolts.





60. Position the LH engine mount and install the bolts.





61. Install the oil pressure sensor.





62. Use the Crankshaft Damper Replacer and install the crankshaft pulley.





63. Install the new bolt in two steps:
- Step 1: Tighten to 63-67 Nm (46-49 ft. lbs.)
- Step 2: Tighten an additional 90 degrees.

CAUTION: The bolt cannot be reused.





64. Position the crankshaft position sensor (CKP sensor) and install the bolts.





65. Position the water thermostat and O-ring in the lower intake manifold with the check ball at the twelve o'clock position

NOTE: Lubricate the O-ring with engine coolant before installation.

66. Position the water hose connection gasket.





67. Position the water hose connection and install the bolts.
68. Position the LH exhaust manifold gasket.





69. Position the LH exhaust manifold and install the nuts.
70. Position the RH exhaust manifold gaskets





71. Position the RH exhaust manifold and install the nuts.





72. Apply the LH valve cover gasket to the valve cover.

NOTE: Apply Silicone Gasket and Sealant F6AZ-19562-AA or equivalent meeting Ford specification WSE-M4G323-A6 to the cylinder head-to-lower take manifold parting seam.





73. Position the LH valve cover and install the bolts in the sequence shown.
74. Apply the RH valve cover gasket to the valve cover.

NOTE: Apply Silicone Gasket and Sealant F6AZ-19562-AA or equivalent meeting Ford specification WSE-M4G323-A6 to the cylinder head-to-lower manifold parting seam.





75. Position the RH valve cover and install the bolts in the sequence shown.





76. Install new O-rings on the fuel injectors and install the injectors m the fuel injection supply manifold.





77. Position the fuel injection supply manifold and gasket and install the studs.





78. Position the engine wiring harness on the engine and connect the fuel injector electrical connectors.





79. Connect the CID sensor electrical connector.





80. Connect the water temperature indicator sensor electrical connector.





81. Connect the ECT sensor electrical connector.





82. Connect the oil pressure switch electrical connector.





83. Connect the CKP sensor electrical connector.





84. Position the upper intake manifold and install the nuts.

NOTE: Inspect integral Intake manifold gaskets for cuts, leaks or other damage prior to installation of upper intake manifold.





85. Install the EGR outlet tube in the upper intake manifold and position the bracket.





86. Install the EGR outlet tube and bracket stud bolt.





87. Position the oil level indicator tube and install the nut.





88. Position the EGR valve (EGR valve) and EGR valve gasket and install the bolts.





89. Connect the EGR valve to exhaust manifold tube to the EGR valve.





90. Connect the EGR valve to exhaust manifold tube to the exhaust manifold.





91. Connect the back pressure hoses to the DPFE ports.





92. Position the vacuum harness on the engine and connect the pressure regulator vacuum connector.





93. Connect the vacuum connector to the upper intake





94. Connect the EVR electrical connector and vacuum connector.





95. Connect the DPFE electrical connector.





96. Connect the IAC electrical connector.





97. Position the ignition coil on the upper intake manifold and install the bolts.





98. Connect the ignition coil and noise suppressor electrical connectors.





99. Connect the TP sensor electrical connector.





100. Connect the spark plug wires into the seven retaining clips.





101. Connect the spark plug wires onto the spark plugs.





102. Position the A/C compressor mounting bracket brace and install the bolts.





103. Position the water pump pulley and install the bolts.
