DISASSEMBLY





1. Remove the bolts and the water pump pulley.





2. Remove the bolts and the A/C compressor mounting bracket brace.





3. Disconnect the spark plug wires from the spark plugs.





4. Disconnect the spark plug wires from the seven retaining clips.





5. Disconnect the ignition coil electrical connector and the noise suppressor electrical connector.





6. Remove the bolts and the ignition coil from the upper intake manifold.





7. Disconnect the Throttle Position (TP) sensor electrical connector.





8. Disconnect the Idle Air Control (IAC) electrical connector.





9. Disconnect the Differential Pressure Feedback EGR (DPFE) electrical connector.





10. Disconnect the EGR Vacuum Regulator (EVR) electrical and vacuum connectors.





11. Disconnect the vacuum connector from the upper intake manifold.





12. Disconnect the vacuum connector from the fuel pressure regulator and remove the vacuum harness from the engine.





13. Disconnect the back pressure hoses from the DPFE ports.





14. Disconnect the EGR valve to exhaust manifold tube from the exhaust manifold.





15. Disconnect the EGR valve to exhaust manifold tube from the EGR valve (EGR valve) and remove the EGR valve to exhaust manifold tube.





16. Remove the bolts and the EGR valve and EGR valve gasket.





17. Remove the nut from the oil level indicator tube bracket and the oil level indicator tube.





18. Remove the stud from the EGR outlet tube bracket and remove the EGR outlet tube.





19. Remove the accelerator cable assembly from the upper intake manifold support.





20. Remove the nuts and the upper intake manifold.





21. Disconnect the Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensor electrical connector.





22. Disconnect the oil pressure switch electrical connector.





23. Disconnect the Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor electrical connector.





24. Disconnect the water temperature indicator sensor electrical connector





25. Remove the Cylinder Identification (CID) sensor.
1 Disconnect the CID sensor electrical connector.
2 Remove the screws.
3 Remove the CID sensor.





26. Remove the camshaft synchronizer.
1 Remove the bolt and clamp.
2 Remove the camshaft synchronizer.





27. Disconnect the fuel injector electrical connectors and remove the wiring harness from the engine.





28. Remove the studs from the fuel injection supply manifold and remove the fuel injection supply manifold and gasket.





29. Remove the fuel injectors from the fuel injection supply manifold and remove the fuel injector O-rings.





30. Remove the bolts and the RH valve cover and valve cover gasket.





31. Remove the bolts and the LH valve cover and valve cover gasket.





32. Remove the nuts and the RH exhaust manifold and exhaust manifold gasket.





33. Remove the nuts and the LH exhaust manifold and exhaust manifold gasket.





34. Remove the bolts and the water hose connection.





35. Remove the water thermostat and O-ring from the lower intake manifold.





36. Remove the bolts and the crankshaft position sensor (CKP sensor).





37. Remove the bolt from the crankshaft pulley.

CAUTION: The bolt cannot be reused.





38. Use Crankshaft Damper Remover to remove the crankshaft pulley.
