39. Remove the oil pressure sensor
40. Remove the bolts and the LH engine mount bracket.
41. Remove the bolts and the RH engine mount bracket
42. Remove the oil bypass filter.
43. Remove the bolt and separate the oil filter adapter from the cylinder block.
44. Remove the bolts and the lower intake manifold and intake manifold gasket.
45. Remove the water pump stud bolts.
46. Remove the bolts and the water pump.
47. Remove the nuts.
48. Remove the bolts and the oil pan.
49. Use the front cover seal remover to remove the crankshaft front seal.
50. Remove the bolts.
51. Remove the studs and the engine front cover.
52. Remove the bolts and the LH rocker arm shaft.
CAUTION: If the rocker arm shaft is not loosened gradually, the shaft may become bent during removal.
53. Remove the LH push rods.
NOTE: Mark the position of the parts so they can be installed in their original position.
54. Remove the bolts and the RH rocker arm shaft.
CAUTION: If the rocker arm shaft is not loosened gradually, the shaft may become bent during removal.
55. Remove the RH push rods.
NOTE: Mark the position of the parts so they can be installed in the original positions.
56. Remove the bolts and the RH cylinder head and head gasket.
57. Remove the bolts and the LH cylinder head and head gasket.
58. Remove the valve tappets.
NOTE: Mark the position of the parts so they can be installed in the original positions.
59. Remove the bolts and the timing chain tensioner.
60. Remove the bolt and the camshaft sprocket and timing chain.
61. Remove the bolts and the timing chain guide.
62. Remove the crankshaft sprocket and the crankshaft sprocket key.
63. Remove the bolts and the camshaft retaining plate.
64. Remove the camshaft.
NOTE: Use care not to damage the camshaft lobes or the camshaft bearing journals.
65. Remove the nuts and the crankshaft oil baffle.
66. Remove the bolts and the oil pump.
67. Remove the oil pump intermediate shaft.
68. Use a Cylinder Ridge Reamer to remove the ridge from the top of the six cylinder bores.
69. Remove the connecting rod nuts and the six connecting rod caps.
NOTE:
- The crankshaft must be rotated until the connecting rod cap being removed is in the down position.
- Mark the connecting rod caps so they can be installed in their original position.
- For cylinders 1, 2 and 3, remove the connecting rod nut at the oil spit hole side first. For cylinders 4, 5 and 6, remove the opposite connecting rod nut first.
70. Push the six pistons and connecting rods out of the top of the cylinders.
NOTE: Place rubber hose over the connecting rod studs to protect the crankshaft journals and cylinder walls from being damaged.
71. Remove the bolts and the main bearing caps.
NOTE:
- The bolts and nuts cannot be reused.
- Mark the main bearing caps so they can be installed in their original position.
72. Remove the crankshaft from the cylinder block.
73. Remove the crankshaft rear oil seal from the crankshaft.
74. Remove the crankshaft main bearings from the cylinder block and main bearing caps.
75. Use Camshaft Bearing Set to remove the camshaft bearings from the cylinder block.
