Removal

REMOVAL
1. Remove the hood.

NOTE: Mark the position of the hood for proper alignment during installation.

2. Discharge and recover the A/C system.





3. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
4. Drain the engine cooling system.
5. Remove the outlet side of the engine air cleaner (ACL).





6. Remove the bolts and the accelerator control splash shield.





7. Remove the upper radiator hose.
1 Release the clamps.
2 Disconnect the upper radiator hose.

8. Remove the radiator.





9. Disconnect the lower radiator hose at the water pump.
1 Release the clamp.
2 Disconnect the lower radiator hose.





10. Rotate the accessory drive belt tensioner counterclockwise and remove the accessory drive belt.





11. Remove the bolt and separate the A/C manifold tube from the A/C compressor.





12. Disconnect the A/C compressor electrical connector.





13. Remove the bolts and position the A/C compressor mounting bracket aside.





14. Disconnect the electrical connectors.





15. Disconnect the heater hose retaining clip.





16. Remove the bolts and the generator mounting bracket.





17. Disconnect the heater water hose from the water pump.
1 Release the clamp.
2 Disconnect the heater water hose.





18. Disconnect the heater water hose from the lower intake manifold.
1 Release the clamp.
2 Disconnect the heater water hose.





19. Disconnect the accelerator cable assembly from the upper intake manifold bracket.





20. Disconnect the EGR valve vacuum connector and the LH vacuum connector.





21. Disconnect the RH vacuum connector.





22. Loosen the bolt and disconnect the PCM electrical connector.





23. Remove the nut and engine harness ground wire.





24. Remove the engine to body ground wire.





25. Disconnect the A/C high pressure switch electrical connector.





26. Loosen the bolt and disconnect the bulkhead connector.
27. Disconnect the fuel lines.





28. Disconnect the vacuum connector from the brake booster.





29. Disconnect the generator harness clip and position the harness aside.





30. Disconnect the Vapor Management Valve (VMV) hose from the throttle body.





31. Remove the bolt and position the battery cable bracket aside.
32. Raise and support the vehicle.





33. Disconnect the exhaust crossover from the exhaust manifold.
- Remove the LH and RH bolts.





34. Access the A/C manifold tube bracket through the RH wheel well and remove the bolt.
35. Remove the starter motor.





36. Disconnect the transmission electrical connectors.





37. Remove the nine bolts.
38. Lower the vehicle.





39. Install the Engine Lifting Eyes on the exhaust manifolds.
1 Install two stud bolts.
2 Install the 7.5 mm spacers.
3 Install the Engine Lifting Eyes.
4 Install the nuts.

40. Install the Spreader Bar on Engine Lifting Eyes.
41. Position and attach a floor crane to the Engine Lifting Eyes.
42. Block and support the transmission.





43. Remove the nuts.





44. Remove the nuts.
45. Raise the engine slightly and disconnect it from the transmission.
46. Lift the engine from the engine compartment.
47. If required. remove the clutch.
48. Remove the flywheel.
49. Place the engine on a work stand.
