Upper
REMOVAL
1. Loosen the lug nuts.
1. Remove the center cap.
2. With the weight of the vehicle on the wheels, loosen but do not remove the lug nuts.
CAUTION: Do not use heat to loosen a seized lug nut. Heat can damage the wheel and the wheel bearings.
2. Raise and support the vehicle.
WARNING: THE ELECTRICAL POWER TO THE AIR SUSPENSION SYSTEM MUST BE SHUT OFF PRIOR TO HOISTING, JACKING OR TOWING AN AIR SUSPENSION VEHICLE. THIS CAN BE ACCOMPLISHED BY TURNING OFF THE AIR SUSPENSION SWITCH LOCATED IN THE REAR JACK STORAGE AREA. FAILURE TO DO SO MAY RESULT IN UNEXPECTED INFLATION OR DEFLATION OF THE AIR SPRINGS WHICH MAY RESULT IN SHIFTING OF THE VEHICLE DURING THESE OPERATIONS.
3. Remove the tire and wheel assembly.
1. Remove the lug nuts.
2. Remove the tire and wheel assembly.
4. Use a suitable jackstand to support the front suspension lower arm.
5. Remove the pinch bolt and nut from the front wheel spindle.
CAUTION: To avoid possible damage to the front wheel spindle, secure the spindle to keep it from tilting before removing pinch bolt and nut.
6. Remove the front suspension upper arm.
1. Remove the two nuts.
2. Remove the two bolts.
3. Remove the front suspension upper arm.
INSTALLATION
1. Install the front suspension upper arm.
1. Position the front suspension upper arm.
2. Install the two bolts and two nuts.
2. Install the pinch bolt and nut to the front wheel spindle.
1. Position the front wheel spindle.
2. Install the pinch bolt and nut.
3. Remove the jack from under the front suspension lower arm.
4. Clean the wheel hub mounting surface.
WARNING: ALWAYS REMOVE ANY CORROSION, DIRT OR FOREIGN MATERIAL PRESENT ON THE MOUNTING SURFACES OF THE WHEEL OR THE SURFACE OF THE WHEEL HUB AND FRONT DISC ROTOR THAT CONTACTS THE WHEEL. INSTALLING WHEELS WITHOUT PROPER METAL TO METAL CONTACT AT THE WHEEL MOUNTING SURFACES CAN CAUSE THE LUG NUTS TO LOOSEN AND ALLOW THE WHEEL TO COME OFF WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION, CAUSING LOSS OF CONTROL.
5. Install the tire and wheel assembly.
1. Position the tire and wheel assembly.
2. Install the lug nuts and lower the vehicle.
3. Tighten the lug nuts in sequence.
4. Install the center cap.
NOTE: If equipped with air suspension, reactivate the system by turning on the air suspension switch.
6. Inspect the front end ride height.
7. Inspect the front end alignment.
