Timing Chain: Service and Repair

REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
1. Remove engine timing cover.
2. Check timing chain deflection. If deflection exceeds 0.50 inch, replace chain and sprockets.
3. Ensure No. 1 cylinder is on compression stroke, TDC.

4. Crank engine until timing marks on sprockets are aligned.
5. Remove camshaft sprocket bolt and washer. Slide crankshaft sprocket, camshaft sprocket and timing chain forward and remove.
6. Reverse procedure to install. Ensure alignment marks match when installing chain and sprockets.
