Fluorescent Oil Additive Method

NOTE: When diagnosing engine oil leaks, the source and location of the leak must be positively identified prior to service.

Use 12 Volt Master UV Diagnostic Inspection Kit to perform the following procedure for oil leak diagnosis:
1. Add Gas Engine Oil Dye 164-R, 3705 or equivalent meeting Ford specification ESE-M99C103-B1 to engine oil. Use 29.6 ml (1 oz) of fluorescent additive in all engines.
2. Clean engine with a suitable solvent to remove all traces of oil.
3. Run engine for 15 minutes.
4. Stop engine and inspect all seal, gasket and galley plug areas for leaks using 12 Volt Master UV Diagnostic Inspection Kit. A clear bright yellow or orange area will identify leak. For extremely small leaks, several hours may be required for the leak to appear.

NOTE: For minor gasket leaks, tightening the retaining bolts may resolve the problem.

5. Repair all leaks as required.
