Crankshaft Position Sensor: Service and Repair
REMOVAL1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
2. Drain the cooling system.
3. Remove the drive belt.
4. Remove the bolts and position the Generator (GEN) out of the way.
5. Remove the lower radiator hose from the water pump inlet tube.
6. Remove the heater water hose from the water pump inlet tube.
7. Remove the bolts and the water pump inlet tube.
8. Remove the O-ring from the water pump inlet tube.
9. Disconnect the Crankshaft Position sensor (CKP sensor).
10. Remove the screw.
11. Remove the crankshaft position sensor.
INSTALLATION
1. Install the crankshaft position sensor.
NOTE: The engine front cover design precisely locates the crankshaft position sensor so that an adjustment is not required.
2. Connect the crankshaft position sensor.
3. Install a new O-ring on the water pump inlet tube.
4. Install the water pump inlet tube into the water pump.
5. Install the water pump inlet tube to the generator.
6. Install the heater water hose on the water pump inlet tube.
7. Position the generator and install three bolts.
8. Install the drive belt.
9. Connect the battery ground cable.
