Door Latch Cable Adjusting Tool:

SPECIAL TOOLS

SLIDING DOOR LATCH ADJUSTMENT
1. Remove the sliding door trim panel and watershield.

NOTE: This adjustment is used to set up the inside and outside handle travel when opening the sliding door. This procedure must be performed when the latch remote control is replaced or when the door cannot be opened due to insufficient handle travel to open the door.

2. Loosen the latch cable adjusting bolt.

3. Insert the Door Latch Cable Adjusting Tool in the rear latch between the cable ferrule and the latch, with the latch installed in the door.

WARNING: A SPACER BLOCK IS REQUIRED FOR PROPER ADJUSTMENT OF THE LATCH LEVER TO ITS CORRECT POSITION. ANY ADJUSTMENT WITHOUT THE USE OF THIS SPACER BLOCK IS NOT RECOMMENDED BECAUSE THE REAR LATCH LEVER COULD BE INCORRECTLY POSITIONED, WHICH COULD CAUSE A HAZARD DURING NORMAL OPERATION OF THE VEHICLE.

4. With the rear door latch closed to its primary latched position, lightly pull the cable and adjustment bracket toward the rear of the vehicle until snug.

5. Tighten the adjusting bolt.

NOTE: Check for proper latch operation by opening and closing the door with the inside and outside door handles. Make sure the door can be unlatched with 12.5-17.8 mm (1/2-11/16 inch) of outside door handle travel.
