Removal
1. Disconnect both battery ground cables.
2. Remove the turbocharger.
3. Remove the radiator.
4. Remove the parking lamp and the headlamp assemblies.
5. Remove the A/C condenser assembly, if so equipped.
6. Remove the radiator grille opening panel. Remove the hood latch and radiator core supports.
7. Remove the front bumper.
8. Remove the accessory drive belt.
9. Remove the oil filler tube.
10. Disconnect the electrical connector from the A/C compressor, if so equipped.
11. Disconnect the air conditioning manifold lines from the A/C compressor, if so equipped.
12. Disconnect the A/C manifold line from the tee block, if so equipped.
13. Disconnect the vacuum pump hose.
14. Disconnect the power steering lines.
15. Remove the A/C compressor or idler pulley mounting bracket retaining bolts, and the mounting bracket.
16. NOTE: Steps 16 through 18 apply only to vehicles equipped with a single generator system.
Disconnect the generator electrical connectors.
17. Remove the accessory drive belt tensioner assembly.
18. Remove the generator bracket retaining bolts, and the generator mounting bracket.
19. NOTE: Steps 19 through 22 apply only to vehicles equipped with a dual generator system.
Disconnect the lower generator quick connector.
20. Remove the engine ground cables.
1 Remove the nut.
2 Remove the starter wire retaining bracket.
3 Remove the engine ground cable.
21. Remove the lower generator mounting bracket retaining bolts, and the mounting bracket.
22. Disconnect the upper generator electrical connector. Remove the upper generator mounting bracket retaining bolts, and the mounting bracket.
23. Disconnect the engine control sensor wiring.
24. Disconnect the lower radiator at the water pump.
25. NOTE: On vehicles equipped with an auxiliary heater, an additional heater supply hose has been added to the rear of the left-hand cylinder head.
Disconnect the heater supply hose.
26. Disconnect the maxifuse.
1 Remove the nuts.
2 Remove the wire.
27. Disconnect the fuel lines.
28. Remove the transmission sensor harness retaining bolt, and the harness.
29. NOTE: The fuel line retaining bolt must be removed before the engine lift adapters can be installed.
Remove the fuel line retaining bolt.
30. Install the two engine lift adapters.
31. Install special tool 303-D099 (D94T-6000-C) on the right cylinder head, if required.
32. Raise and support the vehicle.
33. Remove the starter motor.
34. Remove the engine mount nuts.
35. Remove the flywheel housing cover.
36. Remove the torque converter-to-flywheel retaining nuts.
37. Remove the oil filter.
38. Disconnect the block heater.
39. Lower the vehicle.
40. Remove the transmission-to-engine bolts.
41. Position a suitable jack under the transmission.
42. Remove the transmission fill tube.
43. Install special tool 014-00071 and a lifting fixture on the engine.
44. Raise the engine high enough to clear the No.1 crossmember, and pull the engine forward.
45. Remove the engine lifting equipment from the engine.
46. Remove the flywheel from the engine.
47. Mount the engine on a work stand, using special tool 303-D097 (D94T-6000-A).
48. Install the plugs from special tool set 303-493 (T94T-9395-AH) where necessary.
