Spark Plug: Description and Operation
The spark plug wire carries high voltage pulses from the ignition coil to the spark plug.
The spark plug:
^ changes high voltage pulses to sparks at gap which ignites fuel and air mixture.
^ originally equipped on the vehicle has a platinum-enhanced active electrode for long life. The active electrode is different for LH and RH spark plugs.
NOTE: Spark plugs are removed for clarity.
^ On the RH side (cylinders 1, 2, 3, and 4) are AWSF-32PG.
^ On the LH side (cylinders 5, 6,7 and 8) are AWSF-32P.
^ Replacement spark plug is AWSF-32PP; both electrodes are platinum-enhanced so it can replace either an RH or LH spark plug.
