Removal

1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.





2. Remove the four screws.





3. Remove the gearshift lever.





4. Remove the gearshift lever assembly.
^ Remove the bolts.
^ Remove the gearshift lever assembly.

5. Raise the vehicle on a hoist.
6. Remove the starter.
7. Remove and support the driveshaft.
^ Remove the bolts.
^ Remove the driveshaft.

8. If the transmission disassembly is required, drain the transmission fluid.
9. On 4-wheel drive equipped vehicles, remove the transfer case.
10. Disconnect the back-up lamp switch.
11. Use the high-lift transmission jack to support the transmission.





12. Remove the transmission mount nuts.





13. Remove the RH crossmember nuts and bolts.





14. Remove the LH crossmember nuts and bolts. Remove the crossmember.





15. Remove the back-up lamp switch electrical connector.





16. Remove the slave cylinder.





17. Disconnect the transmission cooling tubes.

18. Remove the engine-to-bell housing bolts.





19. Remove the engine plate-to-bell housing bolts.
20. Remove the transmission.
