Alternator: Description and Operation

NOTE: This engine is available with an optional package that comes with dual generators of the same type as the standard package.

The charging system consists of the following components:
^ generator.
^ an internal voltage regulator that is not serviced separately.
^ generator warning lamp.
^ associated wiring.

The generator and voltage regulator:
^ supplies current to the electrical system.
^ charges the battery.
^ adjusts the generator field current to increase or decrease generator output.
^ turns the generator warning lamp on when a problem is detected in the charging system.
