Compressor

REMOVAL

CAUTION: When replacing an A/C compressor which has failed internally, perform the following procedures to prevent contamination of the refrigerant system.
- If an A/C flusher is available, perform the Flushing procedure. A/C System Flushing
- If an A/C flusher is not available, perform the Refrigerant System Filtering after A/C Compressor Replacement procedure. Refrigerant System Filtering After A/C Compressor Replacement
- Replace the suction accumulator/drier.
- Replace the A/C evaporator core orifice.

1. Recover the refrigerant.
2. Remove the drive belt from the A/C pulley.







3. Disconnect the wire harness connector from the A/C clutch field coil.







4. Loosen the bolt and remove the A/C manifold and tube assembly from the A/C compressor.







5. Remove the bolts and remove the A/C compressor.

INSTALLATION












1. Follow the removal procedure in reverse order.
- Service the replacement A/C compressor with the proper amount of Motorcraft YN-12c refrigerant oil or equivalent meeting Ford specification WSH-M1C231-B.
- Lubricate the O-ring seal with Motorcraft YN-12c refrigerant oil meeting Ford specification WSH-M1C231-B.
- Apply Pipe Sealant with Teflon (R) D8AZ-19554-A or equivalent meeting Ford specification WSK-M2G350-A2 and ESR-M18P7 to the threads of the A/C manifold bolt.
