Flow of Diagnosis

SPECIAL SERVICE TOOLS

1. Verify that the concern is with the evaporative emission (EVAP) system and not diagnosed in the Powertrain Control/Emissions Diagnosis Manual.

2. Inspect to determine if any of the following mechanical concerns apply:

VISUAL INSPECTION CHART

Mechanical
^ Improperly installed fuel filler cap
^ Loose or disconnected components
^ Damaged EVAP canister or vent solenoid
^ Visually inspect EVAP test port (if equipped)

3. If the concern remains after the inspection, determine the symptom and proceed to the symptom chart. Symptom Related Diagnostic Procedures
