Spark Plug: Service and Repair
Spark Plug Wire Remover:
SPECIAL SERVICE TOOL(S)
REMOVAL
1. Remove the engine cover.
2. Using the special tool, with a twisting motion pull the spark plug wire off the spark plug.
CAUTION:
^ Spark plug wires must be connected correctly. Mark the spark plug wires before removing them from the spark plugs.
^ It is important to twist the spark plug wire boots while pulling upward to avoid possible damage to the spark plug wire.
3. Remove the spark plug.
NOTE:
^ Use compressed air to remove any foreign material in the spark plug well before removing the spark plugs.
^ If an original spark plug is reused, make sure it is installed in the same cylinder from which it was taken. New spark plugs can be used in any cylinder.
4. Inspect the spark plug firing tip.
5. Adjust the spark plug gap as necessary.
INSTALLATION
1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
NOTE: Production spark plugs on the RH side (cylinders 1, 2 and 3) are AGSF-34EG. Production spark plugs on the LH side (cylinders 4, 5 and 6) are AGSF-34E. Replacement spark plugs are AGSF-34EE; the electrodes are platinum-enhanced and can replace either a RH or LH spark plug.
