Inspection and Verification

INSPECTION AND VERIFICATION

NOTE: If any concerns are noted with the speedometer, the stoplamps or the horn, address those concerns, referring to their associated systems, before continuing speed control diagnosis.

1. Verify the customer concern by operating the speed control system.
2. Visually inspect for obvious signs of mechanical and electrical damage. Refer to the chart.

3. If the inspection reveals an obvious concern that can be readily identified, repair as required.
4. Verify the speedometer operates correctly by driving the vehicle. If the speedometer does not operate correctly, refer to Instrument Panel, Gauges and Warning Indicators (conventional cluster) or (natural gas cluster).
5. If the vehicle is equipped with a diesel engine and the concern is still present after inspection, refer to Powertrain Management.
