All vehicles with automatic transmission are equipped with a transmission fluid cooler. In some vehicles, the fluid cooler is integral to the radiator assembly and cannot be repaired separately. In other applications or in addition, an auxiliary oil-to-air transmission fluid cooler is mounted in front of the radiator. In operation, transmission fluid travels from the transmission to the integral fluid cooler to the auxiliary transmission fluid cooler and back to the transmission. The integral transmission fluid cooler transfers heat from the transmission fluid to the engine coolant. The auxiliary transmission fluid cooler transfers heat from the transmission fluid to the outside air.
