Test I: LFC 24/DTC B1342 - ECS Defective

Normal Operation
The air bag Electronic Crash Sensor (ECS) module performs several self tests every time the ignition switch is turned to the RUN position. If any of these tests fails, the ECS will store Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) B1342 in memory and flash Lamp Fault Code (LFC) 24 (or higher priority code if one exists) on the air bag indicator. This DTC indicates that an internal component fault has occurred in the ECS. The ECS is not a serviceable component and must be replaced.

Possible Causes
The internal electronic crash sensor fault can only be caused by the internal components of the ECS. Since this is not a serviceable component, it must be replaced.
