Condenser HVAC: Service and Repair

CONDENSER CORE - 5.4L, 6.8L AND 7.3L

REMOVAL

NOTE: If an A/C condenser core leak is suspected, the A/C condenser core must be leak-tested before it is removed from the vehicle.

1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
2. Perform the Refrigerant Discharging and Recovery Procedure.







3. Remove the 8 pushpins and remove the sight shield.







4. Remove the sight shield.







5. Disconnect the A/C condenser core inlet and outlet lines.







6. Remove the screws and remove the RH and LH grille supports.







7. Remove the screws and reposition the hood latch.

NOTE: Mark the location of the hood latch for realignment at assembly.







8. Remove the screws and remove the RH and LH A/C condenser core mounting brackets.







9. Lift out the A/C condenser core.

INSTALLATION






















1. Follow the removal procedure in reverse order.
^ Service the replacement A/C condenser with the correct amount of PAG Refrigerant Compressor Oil (R-132a Systems) F7AZ-19589-DA (Motorcraft YN-12-C) or equivalent meeting Ford specification WSH-M1C231-B. See: Refrigerant Oil Addition.
^ Lubricate the O-ring seals with PAG Refrigerant Compressor Oil (R-134a Systems) F7AZ-19589-DA (Motorcraft YN-12-C) or equivalent meeting Ford specification WSH-M1C231-B.
