Fuel Injector Wiring Harness: Service and Repair
REMOVALWARNING:
^ DO NOT SMOKE OR CARRY LIGHTED TOBACCO OR OPEN FLAME OF ANY TYPE WHEN WORKING ON OR NEAR ANY FUEL-RELATED COMPONENTS. HIGHLY FLAMMABLE MIXTURES ARE ALWAYS PRESENT AND CAN BE IGNITED, RESULTING IN POSSIBLE PERSONAL INJURY.
^ FUEL IN THE FUEL SYSTEM REMAINS UNDER HIGH PRESSURE EVEN WHEN THE ENGINE IS NOT RUNNING.
^ BEFORE WORKING ON OR DISCONNECTING ANY OF THE FUEL LINES OR FUEL SYSTEM COMPONENTS, THE FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE MUST BE RELIEVED.
1. Remove the throttle body spacer; refer to Throttle Body Spacer.
2. Disconnect the RH radio capacitor assembly connector.
3. If equipped, disconnect the EGR vacuum regulator (EVR).
^ Disconnect the electrical connector.
^ Disconnect the vacuum line.
4. Remove the bolts and the bracket assembly.
5. Working from the front of the engine, disconnect the following electrical connections:
1 engine coolant temperature sensor
2 LH radio capacitor assembly
3 field circuit check connect
4 both plug-in connectors at the generator
6. Disconnect the cylinder head temperature sensor.
7. Disconnect the Camshaft Position (CMP) sensor.
8. Disconnect the (1) 16-pin and the (2) 42-pin connectors.
9. Disconnect the engine knock sensor.
10. Disconnect the RH heated oxygen sensor connector.
11. From underneath the vehicle, disconnect the A/C compressor connector.
12. Disconnect the Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensor connector.
13. Disconnect the oil pressure sensor connector.
14. Disconnect the LH oxygen sensor connector.
15. From the top of the engine, disconnect the five LH fuel injector connectors and the five ignition coil connectors.
16. Disconnect the five RH fuel injector connectors and the five ignition coil connectors. Carefully remove the fuel charging wiring harness.
INSTALLATION
1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
