Attachment III - Technical Information

AFFECTED VEHICLES:
2000 MODEL YEAR F-150 AND EXCURSION

INSPECTION - DEALER STOCK BEFORE PRE-DELIVERY INSPECTION





1. Check the "Customer Acceptance" sticker, located on the left hand side of the windshield, for a green dot. See Figure 1.

^ If the green dot is present, no service action is required. Return the vehicle to dealer stock.

^ If the green dot is not present, the headlamp switch assembly must be replaced. Proceed to the "Service Procedure -- Dealer Stock Before Pre-Delivery Inspection."

INSPECTION-DEALER STOCK AFTER PRE-DELIVERY INSPECTION OR CUSTOMER DELIVERED VEHICLES

1. Install the memory saver, then disconnect the battery negative cable.





2. Remove and disconnect the headlamp switch assembly. See Figure 2.





3. Inspect Pin 11 of headlamp switch electrical connector. See Figure 3.

^ If the Tan/White wire is located in Pin 11, the headlamp Switch assembly must be replaced. Proceed to "Service Procedure -- Dealer Stock After Pre-Delivery Inspection or Customer Delivered Vehicles."

^ If the White/Red wire is located in Pin 11, no service action is require Reassemble the vehicle and return to dealer stock or to the customer.

SERVICE PROCEDURE-DEALER STOCK BEFORE PRE-DELIVERY INSPECTION

1. Install the memory saver, then disconnect the battery negative cable.





2. Remove and disconnect the headlamp switch assembly. See Figure 4. Discard the original headlamp switch assembly.

3. Modify the wiring of the headlamp switch electrical connector as follows:





^ Remove the locking wedge from the 12-Pin Headlamp switch electrical connector. See Figure 5.





^ Remove the Tan/White wire from Pin 11 of the headlamp switch electrical connector. See Figure 6.

^ Remove the White/Red wire from Pin 10 of the headlamp switch electrical connector. See Figure 6.





^ Install the Tan/White wire into Pin 10 of the headlamp switch electrical connector. See Figure 7.

^ Install the White/Red wire into Pin 11 of the headlamp switch electrical connector. See Figure 7.

^ Install the locking wedge into the headlamp switch electrical connector.

4. Connect and install the new headlamp switch assembly.

5. Connect the battery negative cable, then remove the memory saver.

SERVICE PROCEDURE - DEALER STOCK AFTER PRE-DELIVERY OR CUSTOMER DELIVERED VEHICLES

1. Discard the original headlamp switch assembly.

2. Modify the wiring of the headlamp switch electrical connector as follows:





^ Remove the locking wedge from the 12-Pin headlamp switch electrical connector. See Figure 8.





^ Remove the Tan/White wire from Pin 11 of the headlamp switch electrical connector. See Figure 9.

^ Remove the White/Red wire from Pin 10 of the headlamp switch electrical connector. See Figure 9.





^ Install the Tan/White wire into Pin 10 of the headlamp switch electrical connector. See Figure 10.

^ Install the White/Red wire into Pin 11 of the headlamp switch electrical connector. See Figure 10.

^ Install the locking wedge into the headlamp switch electrical connector.

3. Connect and install the new headlamp switch assembly.

4. Connect the battery negative cable, then remove the memory saver.
