ISSUE
Some 2002 MY 7.3L DIT F-Super Duty, Econoline & Excursions may exhibit the occurrence of P0340 Camshaft Position Sensor false Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC). F-Super Duty & Excursion may exhibit a late 4R100 3-4 shift (hanging in 3rd gear) at light throttle due to potential lack of converter lock-up occurring after 2-3 shift (most prevalent on 3.73:1 axle ratio vehicles). This may be caused by the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) Calibration.
ACTION
Reprogram the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) to the latest level. Refer to the PCM Calibration Information Chart shown for details.
Obtain an Authorized Modifications Decal (FPS 8262 - obtainable through DOES II, 25/pkg) and list the date, dealer number, and summary of modifications performed. Select a prominent place adjacent to the Vehicle Emission Control Information Decal suitable for installing the Authorized Modifications Decal. Clean the area, install the decal, and cover it with a clear plastic decal shield.
