Parameter Identification (PIDs)

Air Bag Electronic Crash Sensor Module Parameter Identification Table

To retrieve PIDs, follow these steps:
1. Connect the scan tool to the Data Link Connector (DLC).
2. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.
3. Select the MODEL YEAR and VEHICLE.
4. Select DIAGNOSTIC DATA LINK.
5. Select ECS (Air Bag Electronic Crash Sensor module).
6. Select PID/DATA MONITOR AND RECORD.
7. Record all PIDs that are to be retrieved, and press START. PIDs are updated continuously on the display.

The PID/Data Monitor and Record option allows the scan tool operator to read the state of several Parameter IDs (PIDs) to aid in diagnosing the system. PIDs are real time measurements of parameters such as voltages, resistances, etc., calculated by the air bag Electronic Crash Sensor (ECS) module and sent to the scan tool for display. Many of the PIDs supported by the ECS are calculated periodically and are, therefore, not true real time readings. The following is a table of supported PIDs and their update frequencies.
