Cruise Control Servo: Service and Repair

REMOVAL
1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
2. Remove the engine air cleaner assembly; refer to Fuel Delivery and Air Induction.







3. Disconnect the speed control servo electrical connector.







4. Remove the speed control servo bracket screws.







5. Remove the speed control actuator cable cap.
1 Depress the locking tab.
2 Rotate the speed control actuator cable cap counterclockwise.







6. Remove the speed control actuator cable from the speed control servo pulley.
1 Remove the speed control cable slug.
2 Remove the speed control actuator cable.

NOTE: Opening the throttle will remove speed control actuator cable tension during this step.


INSTALLATION







1. Insert the speed control cable slug into the speed control servo pulley slot.

NOTE: Make sure locking spring snaps into place on speed control cable slug.







2. Align the speed control actuator cable cap tabs with the slots in the speed control servo housing and seat the speed control cable cap.

NOTE
^ Make sure the rubber seal is fully seated onto the speed control actuator cable cap.
^ Incorrect wrapping of the speed control actuator cable around the speed control servo pulley may result in a high idle condition.







3. Rotate the speed control actuator cable cap clockwise until the locking tab engages.







4. Install the speed control servo bracket screws.







5. Connect the speed control servo electrical connector.
6. Install the engine air cleaner assembly; refer to Fuel Delivery and Air Induction.
7. Connect the battery ground cable.

NOTE: When the battery is disconnected and reconnected, some abnormal drive symptoms may occur while the vehicle relearns its adaptive strategy. The vehicle may need to be driven 16 km (10 miles) or more to relearn its strategy.
