Exterior Rear View Mirror
Heat Gun:
SPECIAL TOOL(S)
REMOVAL
1. Position the mirror glass to obtain a gap at the lower inboard edge of the mirror assembly.
2. Disengage the power mirror motor jackscrews from the mirror backing plate.
3. Remove the mirror glass by grasping the outboard edge of the glass and separate it from the mirror housing.
^ If equipped, disconnect the electrical connector.
WARNING: PLACE A SHOP TOWEL BETWEEN THE MIRROR GLASS AND THE HAND TO AVOID PERSONAL INJURY IN THE INSTANCE OF GLASS BREAKAGE.
4. Remove the friction pins from the mirror backing plate.
INSTALLATION
1. Install the friction pins into the mirror backing plate by using the special tool to warm the mirror backing plate sockets at the top and outboard positions.
2. Push the power mirror jackscrews into the mirror housing until they bottom out.
NOTE: Rotate the power mirror jackscrews in the mirror housing with the locator tabs facing the center of the housing.
3. Using the special tool, warm the power mirror motor jackscrew and center mirror backing plate sockets.
4. Install the mirror glass by applying sufficient force to the mirror glass until the mirror backing plate snaps into the center pivot of the mirror housing.
WARNING: PLACE A SHOP TOWEL BETWEEN THE MIRROR GLASS AND THE HAND TO AVOID PERSONAL INJURY IN THE INSTANCE OF GLASS BREAKAGE.
NOTE: If equipped, connect the electrical connector.
5. Engage the power mirror jackscrews into the mirror backing plate.
^ Apply sufficient force to the mirror glass until the power mirror jackscrews snap into the mirror backing plate.
WARNING: PLACE A SHOP TOWEL BETWEEN THE MIRROR GLASS AND THE HAND TO AVOID PERSONAL INJURY IN THE INSTANCE OF GLASS BREAKAGE.
6. Test the mirror for normal operation.
