Front 4x4 Suspension Components
The front suspension components are:
^ front suspension upper arm
^ front suspension lower arm
^ torsion bar
^ torsion bar crossmember support
^ front wheel knuckle
^ front shock absorbers
^ front stabilizer bar
^ front stabilizer bar links
^ wheel hub
^ front axle bumper
The front suspension upper arm is a single wishbone type. It contains the upper ball joint and is replaced as a unit.
The front suspension lower arm is a solid die cast arm. It contains the lower ball joint and is replaced as a unit.
The torsion bars connect the front suspension lower arm to the torsion bar adjuster. The torsion bar adjuster allows setting of the proper ride height. Torsion bars are not interchangeable; the ends are stamped R for the right side or L for the left side.
The front wheel knuckle connects the front suspension upper arm and front suspension lower arm ball joints. It controls lateral movement and pivots to allow steering. It holds the disc brake caliper and the wheel hub.
The front Stabilizer bar is connected to both front suspension lower arms and controls side roll.
