System Description

The hood consists of the following components:
^ hood latch striker
^ hood latch
^ hood latch release handle and cable

The front doors consists of the following components:
^ front door latch push button rods
^ exterior door handles
^ front door latches (manual locks)
^ front door latches (power locks)
^ interior door handles
^ door lock cylinders
^ door ajar switches
^ door lock control switches

The rear doors consists of the following components:
^ exterior door handles
^ rear door upper latches
^ rear door lower latches
^ interior door handles
^ door ajar switches

The tailgate consists of the following components:
^ tailgate latch
^ tailgate cables
^ tailgate latch remote control
^ tailgate release handle

Keyless Entry
The keyless entry system components consist of the following components:
^ keyless entry remote transmitter
^ central security module

The electronic door lock system has two main components: the central security module and the three-button (hand-held) keyless entry remote transmitter.

For removal and installation of the central security module refer to Multifunction Electronic Control Module (General Module).

The keyless entry remote transmitter initiates the following electronic door lock system functions:
^ unlocks the driver door
^ unlocks all doors
^ locks all doors
^ enables the panic alarm
^ issues the interior lamps on (when unlocking) and off (when locking) commands to the Generic Electronic Module (GEM)
^ sounds the horn once when LOCK button on the keyless entry remote transmitter is pressed twice, and doors are closed
^ sounds the horn twice when LOCK button on the keyless entry remote transmitter is pressed twice, and any door is ajar
^ allows up to four keyless entry remote transmitters to be programmed

NOTE: The remote entry features will not function when the ignition switch is in the RUN or ACC position.

To confirm that the doors have been locked, press the LOCK button again, within five seconds of the first press. The horn will sound once if the doors have locked and all doors are closed.

To activate the panic alarm:
^ Press the red PANIC button on the keyless entry remote transmitter. The horn will sound and the parking lamps will flash for a maximum of 2 minutes and 45 seconds.

To deactivate the panic alarm:
^ Press the red PANIC button again on the keyless entry remote transmitter.
^ Turn the ignition switch to RUN/ACC.
