DISASSEMBLY

WARNING:
^ ALWAYS WEAR SAFETY GLASSES WHEN REPAIRING AN AIR BAG SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM (SRS) VEHICLE AND WHEN HANDLING AN AIR BAG MODULE. THIS WILL REDUCE THE RISK OF INJURY IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENTAL DEPLOYMENT.
^ AFTER DEPLOYMENT, THE AIR BAG SURFACE CAN CONTAIN DEPOSITS OF SODIUM HYDROXIDE A PRODUCT OF THE GAS GENERANT COMBUSTION THAT IS IRRITATING TO THE SKIN. WASH YOUR HANDS WITH SOAP AND WATER AFTERWARDS.
^ NEVER PROBE THE CONNECTORS ON THE AIR BAG MODULE. DOING SO CAN RESULT IN AIL BAG DEPLOYMENT, WHICH CAN RESULT IN PERSONAL INJURY


1. Prepare the vehicle for front seat backrest disassembly.
1 Remove the affected seat.
2 Remove the front seat backrest.







2. Unhook the trim cover retainer.







3. Disengage the hook and loop strips and remove the seat trim.

CAUTION: Use care when separating the seat back trim cover from the hook and loop strips or the hook and loop strips may be torn from the seat back foam.







4. Remove the seat back padding from the seat back frame.

CAUTION: Use care when removing the seat back padding because it may be damaged during disassembly.







5. Remove the plastic bag.

ASSEMBLY
1. To assemble, reverse the disassembly procedure.
2. Restore the vehicle to operating condition.
1 Install the front seat backrest.
2 Install the affected seat.
3. Check the active restraint system for correct operation.
