Front Seat Backrest-Bucket and 40 Percent Bench

REMOVAL
WARNING:
^ ALWAYS WEAR SAFETY GLASSES WHEN REPAIRING AN AIR BAG SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM (SRS) VEHICLE AND WHEN HANDLING AN AIR BAG MODULE. THIS WILL REDUCE THE RISK OF INJURY IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENTAL DEPLOYMENT.
^ AFTER DEPLOYMENT, THE AIR BAG SURFACE CAN CONTAIN DEPOSITS OF SODIUM HYDROXIDE, A PRODUCT OF THE GAS GENERANT COMBUSTION THAT IS IRRITATING TO THE SKIN. WASH YOUR HANDS WITH SOAP AND WATER AFTERWARDS.
^ NEVER PROBE THE CONNECTORS ON THE AIR BAG MODULE. DOING SO CAN RESULT IN AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT, WHICH CAN RESULT IN PERSONAL INJURY.
Vehicles with safety belt buckle pretensioners
1. Prepare the vehicle for front seat backrest removal.
1 Disconnect the battery ground cable.
WARNING: TO AVOID ACCIDENTAL DEPLOYMENT AND POSSIBLE PERSONAL INJURY, THE BACKUP POWER SUPPLY MUST BE DEPLETED BEFORE REPAIRING OR REPLACING ANY FRONT OR SIDE AIR BAG SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM (SRS) COMPONENTS AND BEFORE SERVICING, REPLACING, ADJUSTING OR STRIKING COMPONENTS NEAR THE FRONT OR SIDE AIR BAG SENSORS, SUCH AS DOORS, INSTRUMENT PANEL, CONSOLE, DOOR LATCHES, STRIKERS, SEATS AND HOOD LATCHES.
PLEASE REFER TO THE APPROPRIATE VEHICLE SHOP MANUAL TO DETERMINE LOCATION OF THE FRONT AIR BAG SENSORS.
THE SIDE AIR BAG SENSORS ARE LOCATED AT OR NEAR THE BASE OF THE B-PILLAR.
TO DEPLETE THE BACKUP POWER SUPPLY ENERGY, DISCONNECT THE BATTERY GROUND CABLE AND WAIT AT LEAST ONE MINUTE. BE SURE TO DISCONNECT AUXILIARY BATTERIES AND POWER SUPPLIES (IF EQUIPPED).
2 Deactivate the supplemental restraint system (SRS).
WARNING: TO REDUCE THE RISK OF SERIOUS PERSONAL INJURY, READ AND FOLLOW ALL WARNINGS, CAUTIONS, NOTES, AND INSTRUCTIONS IN THE SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM (SRS) DEACTIVATION/REACTIVATION PROCEDURE.
3 Remove the affected seat.
WARNING: TO REDUCE THE RISK OF SERIOUS PERSONAL INJURY, READ AND FOLLOW ALL WARNINGS, CAUTIONS, NOTES, AND INSTRUCTIONS IN THE SEAT REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION PROCEDURE.

2. Remove the affected seat.
WARNING: TO REDUCE THE RISK OF SERIOUS PERSONAL INJURY, READ AND FOLLOW ALL WARNINGS, CAUTIONS, NOTES, AND INSTRUCTIONS IN THE SEAT REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION PROCEDURE.
Vehicles with manual lumbar
3. Remove the lumbar adjustment knob.
4. Remove the lumbar support adjuster.
1 Remove the screws.
2 Remove the lumbar support adjuster.
5. Disconnect the lumbar support adjuster.
^ To separate the lumbar support adjuster from the lumbar adjustment cable, align the lumbar adjustment cable ball socket in the lumbar support adjuster keyway and bend parts 90 degrees to each other.
NOTE: The lumbar support assembly must be fully relaxed.
6. Note the routing of the lumbar adjustment cable.
All vehicles
7. Move the front seat backrest to its forward most position.
8. Remove the two recliner bolts (one on each side).
9. Remove the pivot bolt.
10. Remove the pivot bolt.
11. Remove the front seat backrest.
INSTALLATION
WARNING: TO REDUCE THE RISK OF SERIOUS PERSONAL INJURY, READ AND FOLLOW WARNINGS, CAUTIONS, AND NOTES AT THE BEGINNING OF THE REMOVAL PROCEDURE.
All vehicles
1. Position the front seat backrest.
2. Install the pivot bolt.
3. Install the pivot bolt.
4. Install the two recliner bolts (one on each side).
Vehicles with manual lumbar
5. Route the lumbar adjustment cable as noted during removal.
6. Connect the lumbar support adjuster and the lumbar adjustment cable.
7. Install the lumbar support adjuster and two screws.
8. Install the lumbar adjustment knob.
Vehicles without safety belt buckle pretensioners
9. Install the 60 percent bench seat.

10. Restore the vehicle to operating condition.
1 Remove the 60 percent bench seat.

2 Disconnect the battery ground cable.

3 Reactivate the supplemental restraint system (SRS).

4 Connect the battery ground cable.
5 With all restraint system diagnostic tools removed, prove out the supplemental restraint system (SRS).
All vehicles
11. Check the active restraint system for correct operation.
