With Seat Integrated Restraints (SIR)

REMOVAL

WARNING:
^ ALWAYS WEAR SAFETY GLASSES WHEN REPAIRING AN AIR BAG SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM (SRS) VEHICLE AND WHEN HANDLING AN AIRBAG MODULE. THIS WILL REDUCE THE RISK OF INJURY IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENTAL DEPLOYMENT.
^ AFTER DEPLOYMENT, THE AIR BAG SURFACE CAN CONTAIN DEPOSITS OF SODIUM HYDROXIDE, A PRODUCT OF THE GAS GENERATED COMBUSTION THAT IS IRRITATING TO THE SKIN. WASH YOUR HANDS WITH SOAP AND WATER AFTERWARDS.
^ THE SAFETY BELT BUCKLE PRETENSIONER AND SAFETY BELT RETRACTOR PRETENSIONER ARE PYROTECHNIC DEVICES. ALWAYS WEAR SAFETY GLASSES WHEN REPAIRING AN AIR BAG EQUIPPED VEHICLE AND WHEN HANDLING A SAFETY BELT BUCKLE PRETENSIONER OR SAFETY BELT RETRACTOR PRETENSIONER.
^ THE SAFETY BELT BUCKLE PRETENSIONER AND SAFETY BELT RETRACTOR PRETENSIONER ARE PYROTECHNIC DEVICES. NEVER PROBE PRETENSIONER ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS. DOING SO COULD RESULT IN PRETENSIONER OR AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT AND COULD RESULT IN PERSONAL INJURY.


All seats
1. Disconnect the battery ground cable and wait at least one minute.

WARNING: TO AVOID ACCIDENTAL DEPLOYMENT AND POSSIBLE PERSONAL INJURY, THE BACKUP POWER SUPPLY MUST BE DEPLETED BEFORE REPAIRING OR REPLACING ANY FRONT OR SIDE AIR BAG SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM (SRS) COMPONENTS AND BEFORE SERVICING, REPLACING, ADJUSTING OR STRIKING COMPONENTS NEAR THE FRONT OR SIDE AIR BAG SENSORS, SUCH AS DOORS, INSTRUMENT PANEL, CONSOLE, DOOR LATCHES, STRIKERS, SEATS AND HOOD LATCHES.

REFER TO THE APPROPRIATE COMPONENT OR SYSTEM TO DETERMINE LOCATION OF THE FRONT AIR BAG SENSORS.

THE SIDE IMPACT SENSORS ARE LOCATED AT OR NEAR THE BASE OF THE B-PILLAR.

TO DEPLETE THE BACKUP POWER SUPPLY ENERGY, DISCONNECT THE BATTERY GROUND CABLE AND WAIT AT LEAST ONE MINUTE. BE SURE TO DISCONNECT AUXILIARY BATTERIES AND POWER SUPPLIES (IF EQUIPPED).


2. Deactivate the supplemental restraint system (SRS).

WARNING: TO REDUCE THE RISK OF SERIOUS PERSONAL INJURY, READ AND FOLLOW ALL WARNINGS, CAUTIONS, NOTES, AND INSTRUCTIONS IN THE SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM (SRS) DEACTIVATION/REACTIVATION PROCEDURE.

3. Remove the affected seat.

WARNING: TO REDUCE THE RISK OF SERIOUS PERSONAL INJURY, READ AND FOLLOW ALL WARNINGS, CAUTIONS, NOTES, AND INSTRUCTIONS IN THE SEAT REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION PROCEDURE.







4. Remove the seat adjuster control knobs, covers and the seat side trim panel screws.
1 Remove the seat recliner lever cover screw and cover.
2 Pull to remove the lumbar control knob.
3 Remove the three seat side trim panel attachment screws.







5. Remove the two screws securing the lumbar adjustor control to the seat track riser.
^ Push lumbar adjuster control inward to provide clearance for trim panel removal.

6. Pull the rearward lower corner of the side shield to disengage the metal retaining clip.
7. Remove the side trim cover.

CAUTION: Bend the side shield slightly to insure the shield is not scratched by the recliner lever.

Heated seats
8. Disconnect the heater switch electrical connector.







9. Disconnect the seat heater mats and the heated seat module electrical connectors. Release the electrical connectors from their cushion pan attachments.

Power seats







10. Remove the three trim support wire screws securing the trim cover side face to the seat track riser.







11. Disconnect power seat switch electrical connector and the seat actuator motors electrical connector. Release the electrical connectors from their cushion pan attachments.

All seats







12. Remove the four seat cushion pan attachment bolts. Lift off the seat cushion assembly.

INSTALLATION

All seats







1. Position the seat cushion. Install the four seat cushion bolts.

NOTE: Make sure loose square reinforcement stampings are inserted between cushion pan front attachments and support brackets.

Power seats







2. Connect power seat switch electrical connector and the seat actuator motors electrical connector. Attach the connectors to the cushion pan.







3. Attach the three trim support wire screws that secure the trim cover side face to the seat track riser.

Heated seats







4. Attach the components to the seat cushion pan. Connect seat heater mats and the heated seat module.







5. Connect the heated seat control switch electrical connector.

Power seats







6. Position the seat control switch on the side trim panel. Install the two screws.

Heated seats







7. Connect the heated seat control switch electrical connector.

All seats







8. Position the side trim cover. Install the three trim cover screws.
^ The seat backrest pivot bolt shaft must be inserted into the cover standoff.

9. Push the rearward lower corner of the side shield to engage the metal retaining clip.







10. Position the lumbar adjuster control and install the two mounting screws. Install the adjuster knob.







11. Position the seat back recliner lever cover and install the screw.
12. Install the front seat.

13. Reactivate the supplemental restraint system (SRS).

WARNING: TO REDUCE THE RISK OF SERIOUS PERSONAL INJURY, READ AND FOLLOW ALL WARNINGS, CAUTIONS, NOTES AND INSTRUCTIONS IN THE SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM (SRS) DEACTIVATION/REACTIVATION PROCEDURE.

14. With all the restraint system diagnostic tools removed, prove out the supplemental restraint system (SRS).

WARNING: THE RESTRAINT SYSTEM DIAGNOSTIC TOOL IS FOR RESTRAINT SYSTEM SERVICE ONLY. REMOVE FROM THE VEHICLE PRIOR TO ROAD USE. FAILURE TO REMOVE COULD RESULT IN INJURY AND POSSIBLE VIOLATION OF VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARDS.

15. Check the active restraints for correct operation.
