BODY - TOP SURFACE OF REAR CARGO DOORS SCRATCHED
FORD:
2002 EXCURSION
ISSUE
Some vehicles may exhibit scratching of the top of the cargo doors by the bottom of the liftgate and the applique attached to the liftgate. This may be caused by the cargo door "jumping" when the liftgate is slammed closed or driving over rough roads.
ACTION
Door bumpers are being added to the bottom of the liftgate in 2 locations to prevent the liftgate from contacting the top of the cargo doors. Install one each just above each cargo door on the liftgate next to the black applique. Refer to the following Service Procedure for details.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
Drill two (2) 5 mm diameter holes into the liftgate 200 mm on both sides of the center of the liftgate in the center of the outer door lip (Figures 1 and 2). Install Door Bumpers part number N805307-S in the two holes using a small blade tip screwdriver.
