Seats: Description and Operation

The Explorer Sport Trac seat options consist of:
- Captain's chair (cloth/vinyl)
- Sport bucket (leather or cloth, standard power, manual lumbar)
- 50/50 rear seat (cloth or leather)
- 60/40 rear seat (vinyl, cloth or leather)

Side Air Bag
Driver and passenger seat side air bags are attached to the seat backrest frame. For diagnostic information or if the seat side air bag has been deployed, refer to Air Bag Systems.

Front seat backrest trim covers installed on seats with side air bags cannot be repaired. New front seat backrest trim covers must be installed. Cleaning is permissible.

If a side air bag deployment took place, a new seat back pad, trim cover and side air bag module must be installed. Install a new seat back frame, if necessary.
