Installation

INSTALLATION

All vehicles
1. Align and position the instrument panel with the clips in the sheet metal.

NOTE: This step will require an assistant.







2. Install the instrument panel cowl top bolts.
1 Install the bolts.
2 Install the covers.







3. Install the LH instrument panel cowl side nut.







4. Install the RH instrument panel cowl side nut.







5. Install the instrument panel floor brace.
1 Install the upper instrument panel floor brace bolt.
2 Tighten the instrument panel floor brace bolts and nut.

NOTE:
^ To prevent any squeaks or rattles, install and tighten the upper instrument panel floor brace bolt first, then tighten the floor brace bolts and nut.
^ Reposition the carpet after this step is carried out.







6. Install the instrument panel reinforcement bolt below the LH corner of the glove compartment.







7. Install the instrument panel bolt on the relay bracket.







8. Install the instrument panel bolts through the passenger side air bag module opening.
^ Install the RH bolt first.







9. Install the passenger side air bag module.
1 Position the passenger side air bag module.
2 Install the bolts.
3 Connect the electrical connector.

WARNING:
^ NEVER PROBE THE CONNECTORS ON THE AIR BAGS. DOING SO MAY RESULT IN AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT, WHICH COULD RESULT IN PERSONAL INJURY.
^ ALWAYS WEAR SAFETY GLASSES WHEN REPAIRING AN AIR BAG VEHICLE AND WHEN HANDLING AN AIR BAG.
^ CARRY A LIVE AIR BAG WITH THE BAG AND TRIM COVER POINTED AWAY FROM YOUR BODY. AN ACCIDENTAL DEPLOYMENT WILL THEN DEPLOY WITH A MINIMAL CHANCE OF INJURY.

10. Install the glove compartment.







11. Install the instrument panel relay cover.
1 If equipped, connect the sunload sensor electrical connector.
2 If equipped, connect the autolamp sensor electrical connector.
3 Install the instrument panel relay cover.







12. Install the antenna lead-in cable into the instrument panel.
1 Position the antenna lead-in cable into the instrument panel.
2 Connect the cable locators between the instrument panel channel and the audio unit end of the cable.
13. Install the audio unit.







14. If equipped, connect the EATC hose to the evaporator case.







15. Connect the climate control wiring harness connector.







16. Connect the RH instrument panel main harness connectors.
^ Insert all the wiring harness locator into the cowl side panel.







17. Install the RH ground bolts.







18. Connect the inertia fuel shutoff switch electrical connector.







19. Install the instrument panel reinforcement bolt below the LH corner of the cigar lighter and power point.







20. Install the instrument panel bolts through the steering column opening.







21. Position the steering column.
^ Install the four steering column support nuts.







22. If equipped, connect the transmission range indicator to the steering column.
1 Connect the cable.
2 Install the bolt.







23. Connect the remaining electrical connectors on the steering column.







24. Connect the (A) clockspring electrical connectors and the (B) anti-theft sensor electrical connector.







25. Install the instrument panel steering column opening cover reinforcement.
1 Position the instrument panel steering column opening cover reinforcement.
2 Install the nuts.







26. Connect the LH instrument panel main wiring harness connectors.
^ Insert the main wiring harness locators.







27. Connect the audio unit ground and the GEM/CTM ground bolts.







28. If equipped, connect the CPP switch.







29. If equipped, connect the adjustable pedal motor harness connector.







30. If equipped, connect the adjustable pedal motor electrical connector.







31. Connect the BPP switch electrical connector.
^ Insert the wiring harness locators.

Early build vehicles







32. Install the LH and RH windshield side garnish mouldings.







33. Install the LH and RH A-pillar passenger assist handles.
1 Position the LH and RH A-pillar passenger assist handles.
2 Install the four screws and four screw covers.

Late build vehicles







34. Install the LH and RH windshield garnish mouldings.
^ Align the tab on the mouldings with the instrument panel.







35. Install the LH and RH A-pillar passenger assist handles.
1 Position the LH and RH A-pillar passenger assist handles.
2 Install the four screws and four screw covers.

All vehicles







36. If equipped, install the alternative fuel control module (AFCM).
1 Attach the AFCM by pressing it into its original position.

NOTE: The AFCM is attached with Velcro(R).

2 Connect the electrical connector.







37. Install the LH and RH A-pillar lower trim panels.







38. Install the LH and RH door weatherstrip seals.







39. Install the LH and RH front door scuff plates.







40. Connect the climate control head vacuum harness connector.







41. Connect the electronic blend door actuator electrical connector.
^ Insert the wiring harness locators.







42. Connect the RCM electrical connector.
1 Connect the RCM electrical connector.
2 Engage the locking tab.
^ Insert the wiring harness locator.







43. If equipped, install the valance panel.
44. If equipped, adjust the transmission range indicator.
45. Install the lower instrument panel steering column cover.







46. Clip the bulkhead electrical connectors into the dash panel.







47. Install the bulkhead electrical connector insulator.







48. Connect the bulkhead wiring harness connectors.
1 Connect the bulkhead wiring harness connectors.
2 Tighten the bolts.







49. Install the BJB into the mounting tabs.
50. Connect the battery cables.
