Test P1-P3:

Test P4-P5:

Test P6-P8:

Normal Operation
The air bag indicator lamp is designed to light for 6 (±2) seconds when the ignition switch is turned to the RUN position. This initial 6 seconds of air bag indicator illumination is considered normal operation and is called proveout of the air bag indicator lamp.

The air bag Electronic Crash Sensor (ECS) monitors the air bag indicator lamp for open and shorted conditions. If the ECS detects an open or shorted condition on the air bag indicator lamp circuit, the ECS will store DTC B1868 in memory.

If the ECS detects an air bag indicator lamp fault in addition to another air bag system fault, the ECS will send a signal to the buzzer or chime module and will produce five sets of five tones.

Possible Causes
^ Damaged wiring on Circuit 608 (BK/Y).
^ Damaged or burned-out air bag indicator lamp.
