SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM (SRS) DEACTIVATION AND REACTIVATION

Reactivation

WARNING: To reduce the risk of serious personal injury, read and follow all warnings, cautions, and notes at the beginning of the deactivation procedure.


All Sport Trac vehicles







1. NOTE: Make sure the battery negative cable is still disconnected before continuing with the installation portion of this procedure.
Remove the restraint system diagnostic tool from the vehicle harness side of the driver side safety belt retractor pretensioner electrical connector.







2. Connect the driver side safety belt retractor pretensioner electrical connector.

Sport Trac vehicles with safety canopies







3. Remove the restraint system diagnostic tool from the vehicle harness side of the driver side safety canopy electrical connector.







4. Connect the driver side safety canopy electrical connector.


All Sport Trac vehicles







5. Remove the restraint system diagnostic tool from the vehicle harness side of the passenger side safety belt retractor pretensioner electrical connector.







6. Connect the passenger side safety belt retractor pretensioner electrical connector.

Sport Trac vehicles with safety canopies







7. Remove the restraint system diagnostic tool from the vehicle harness side of the passenger side safety canopy electrical connector.







8. Connect the passenger side safety canopy electrical connector.
9. Install the driver and passenger side C-pillar trim panels.

All Sport Trac vehicles







10. Install the driver side lower B-pillar trim panel.
1 Position the B-pillar trim panel to the B-pillar and install it around the weather stripping.
2 Install the rear door scuff plate.
3 Reposition the front door scuff plate at the B-pillar trim panel.







11. Install the passenger side lower B-pillar trim panel.
1 Position the B-pillar trim panel to the B-pillar and install it around the weather stripping.
2 Install the rear door scuff plate.
3 Reposition the front door scuff plate at the B-pillar trim panel.

All Explorer Sport vehicles







12. NOTE: Make sure the battery negative cable is still disconnected before continuing with the installation portion of this procedure.

Remove the restraint system diagnostic tool from the vehicle harness side of the driver side safety belt retractor pretensioner electrical connector.







13. Connect the driver side safety belt pretensioner electrical connector.






14. Remove the restraint system diagnostic tool from the vehicle harness side of the passenger side safety belt retractor pretensioner electrical connector.







15. Connect the passenger side safety belt pretensioner electrical connector.
16. Install the driver side and passenger side rear quarter trim panel.

All Vehicles







17. Remove the restraint system diagnostic tool from the vehicle harness side of the passenger air bag electrical connector.







18. Connect the passenger air bag module electrical connector.







19. Close the glove compartment door.







20. Remove the restraint system diagnostic tool from the vehicle harness side of the clockspring electrical connector at the base of the steering column.







21. Connect the clockspring electrical connector at the base of the steering column.







22. Position the lower steering column opening finish panel reinforcement and install the bolts.







23. Install the lower steering column opening finish panel.
1 Position the lower steering column opening finish panel to the I/P and push in at the top to seat the retaining clips.
2 Install the screws.







24. Position the hood release handle and install the screws.
25. Connect the battery ground cable.

26. WARNING: The restraint system diagnostic tool is for restraint system service only. Remove from the vehicle prior to road use. Failure to remove could result in injury and possible violation of vehicle safety standards.

With all the restraint system diagnostic tools removed, prove out the supplemental restraint system (SRS). Prove Out Procedure

27. Check the active restraint system for correct operation.
