Heated Seat Switch - With Seat Integrated Restraints
HEATED SEAT SWITCH - WITH SEAT INTEGRATED RESTRAINTS (SIR)REMOVAL
WARNING:
- Always wear safety glasses when repairing an air bag supplemental restraint system (SRS) vehicle and when handling an airbag module. This will reduce the risk of injury in the event of an accidental deployment.
- After deployment, the air bag surface can contain deposits of sodium hydroxide, a product of the gas generant combustion that is irritating to the skin. Wash your hands with soap and water afterwards.
- The safety belt buckle pretensioner and safety belt retractor pretensioner are pyrotechnic devices. Always wear safety glasses when repairing an air bag equipped vehicle and when handling a safety belt buckle pretensioner or safety belt retractor pretensioner.
1. WARNING: To avoid accidental deployment and possible personal injury, the backup power supply must be depleted before repairing or replacing any front or side air bag supplemental restraint system (SRS) components and before servicing, replacing, adjusting or striking components near the front or side air bag sensors, such as doors, instrument panel, console, door latches, strikers, seats and hood latches.
Please refer to the appropriate component or system to determine location of the front air bag sensors.
The side impact sensors are located at or near the base of the B-pillar.
To deplete the backup power supply energy, disconnect the battery ground cable and wait at least one minute. Be sure to disconnect auxiliary batteries and power supplies (if equipped).

2. WARNING: To reduce the risk of serious personal injury, read and follow all warnings, cautions, notes, and instructions in the supplemental restraint system (SRS) deactivation/reactivation procedure.
Deactivate the supplemental restraint system (SRS).
3. WARNING: To reduce the risk of serious personal injury, read and follow all warnings, cautions, notes, and instructions in the seat removal and installation procedure.
Remove the affected seat.
4. Remove the seat adjuster control knobs, covers and the seat side trim panel screws.
1 Remove the seat recliner lever cover screw and cover.
2 Pull to remove the lumbar control knob.
3 Remove the three seat side trim panel attachment screws.
5. Remove the two screws securing the lumbar adjustor control to the seat track riser.
- Push lumbar adjuster control inward to provide clearance for trim panel removal.
6. Pull the rearward lower corner of the side shield to disengage the metal retaining clip.
7. CAUTION: Bend the side shield slightly to insure the shield is not scratched by the recliner lever.
Remove the side trim cover.
8. Disconnect the heated seat switch electrical connector. Press the locking tabs, remove the switch from the trim panel.
INSTALLATION
1. Install the heated seat switch into the trim panel, and connect the heated seat switch electrical connector.
- Verify the switch locking tabs are securely seated.
2. CAUTION: Bend the side shield slightly to insure the shield is not scratched by the recliner lever.
Position the side trim cover and install the three trim cover screws.
- The seat backrest pivot bolt shaft must be inserted into the cover standoff.
3. Push the rearward lower corner of the side shield to engage the metal retaining clip.
4. Position the lumbar adjuster control and install the two mounting screws. Install the adjuster knob.
5. Position the seat back recliner lever cover and install the screw.
6. WARNING: To reduce the risk of serious personal injury, read and follow all warnings, cautions, notes and instructions in the front seat removal and installation procedure.
Install the front seat.
7. WARNING: To reduce the risk of serious personal injury, read and follow all warnings, cautions, notes and instructions in the supplemental restraint system (SRS) deactivation/reactivation procedure.
Reactivate the supplemental restraint system (SRS).
8. WARNING: The restraint system diagnostic tool is for restraint system service only. Remove from the vehicle prior to road use. Failure to remove could result in injury and possible violation of vehicle safety standards.
With all the restraint system diagnostic tools removed, prove out the supplemental restraint system (SRS).
9. Check the active restraints for correct operation.
