Cruise Control Servo: Service and Repair
REMOVAL1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
2. Disconnect the speed control actuator cable end from the throttle by opening the throttle manually and snapping the cable and connector off the nail head pin, in the direction shown.
3. Remove the engine air cleaner assembly.
4. Disconnect the speed control servo electrical connector.
5. Remove the speed control servo bracket screws.
6. Remove the speed control actuator cable cap.
1 Press the locking tab.
2 Rotate the speed control actuator cable cap counterclockwise.
7. Disconnect the speed control cable from the speed control actuator pulley.
1 Gently push the retaining spring.
2 Disconnect the speed control cable slug from the speed control actuator pulley.
INSTALLATION
1. Insert the speed control cable slug into the speed control servo pulley slot.
1 Gently push the retaining spring.
2 Insert the speed control cable slug completely into the speed control servo pulley slot.
2. Align the speed control actuator cable cap tabs with the slots in the speed control servo housing and seat the speed control cable cap.
NOTE:
^ Make sure the rubber seal is correctly seated onto the speed control actuator cable cap.
^ Incorrect wrapping of the speed control actuator cable core wire around the speed control servo pulley may result in a high idle condition.
3. Rotate the speed control actuator cable cap clockwise until the locking tab engages.
4. Install the speed control servo bracket screws.
5. Connect the speed control servo electrical connector.
6. Install the engine air cleaner assembly.
7. Connect the speed control actuator cable end to the throttle nailhead.
8. Connect the battery ground cable.
