Removal

RH glow plugs

1. NOTE: Use a six point socket squarely seated on the retaining nut for removal.

For automatic transmission equipped models, remove the retaining nut and position the transmission fluid indicator tube aside.

Discard the retaining nut.






2. Remove the RH fender splash shield.

3. Trim the evaporator case to provide glow plug buss bar removal clearance.

^ Measure and mark a line just below the bottom rib on the evaporator case, from the RH edge outboard toward the wheel, 10 mm (0.39 in) to 15 mm (0.59 in). From that point mark a line downward at a 45 degree angTe toward the outboard side of the vehicle.
^ Using a carbide burr bit and a 90 degree angle grinder, remove the corner.






All glow plugs

4. NOTE: RH shown, LH simiTar. Disconnect the glow plug electrical connector.






5. Remove the glow plug buss bar.






6. NOTE: If coolant residue is found on the glow plug, a new glow plug sleeve may have to be installed.

Remove the glow plug.






Installation

All glow plugs

1. Install the glow plug.






2. Clean and apply clean engine oil to the 0-rings seals.






3. Install the glow plug buss bar.






4. Connect the glow plug electrical connector.






RH glow plugs

5. Apply RTV silicone sealant to the edge of the evaporator case that was trimmed for glow plug buss bar removal.

6. Install the RH splash shield.

7. Position back the transmission indicator tube and install a new M6 retaining nut.
