Spring

Removal and Installation

CAUTION: Suspension fasteners are critical parts because they affect performance of vital components and systems and their failure can result in major service expense. Install new parts with the same part number or an equivalent part if installation is necessary. Do not install a part of lesser quality or substitute design. Torque values must be used as specified during reassembly to make sure of correct retention of these parts.

1. Remove the wheel and tire assembly.
2. Using a suitable Jack, support the front axle assembly.





3. Remove the nut and detach the shock from the mounting stud.





4. Remove the upper spring retainer.





5. Lower the front axle until the spring is free of the upper spring seat.





6. Using an extension through the top of the spring, remove the lower spring retainer.





7. Remove the front spring.











8. To install, reverse the removal procedure, using new fasteners.
